Pam's body was soon pressed tightly against his, and she felt as if she was going to die.
"I don't know what to say either," she replied breathily as she ran her hands up and down his back..
It felt like the entire world disappeared. Roy never, ever made her feel like that.
She teased the tip of her nose against his, as if she were inviting him to kiss her again.
He kissed her again, making this one more meaningful and more passionate than the rest, if that was even possible.
"You don't think-" he kissed her neck and rested his head lightly on her shoulder before kissing her lips again. "-we should go?" he finished, pressing her lips to his and not waiting for her to answer.
Jim pulled away slightly, but the distance was hardly noticeable.
When he pulled away from her, a soft, contented sigh escaped from her lips.
"I think," she quipped, grinning, "you gotten all my gloss off. And yeah, we should be going. We've made the transition from customers to loiterers."
She waited for him to open the passenger door and got in, and as she sat, he head lolled back. Dreamily, she watched Jim as he started up the car. And, in her mind, she whispered a prayer of thanks.
Jim smiled over at her, thinking that this had turned out a whole lot better than he had expected it to.
He'd almost forgotten that they had to go to work tomorrow. "You've got work to look forward to." he said with a grin.
But maybe, work might not be as bad as usual. And whatever the consequences of tonight were? He'd deal with those later. Right now they were unimportant.
"Oh yes, Dunder-Miflin, that bastion of fun and excitement," she giggled.
Dunder-Miflin, also the home of Jim's still very current girlfriend. She shook the thought out of her mind, as she looked over to see Jim's warm smile. For a few more minutes at least, he was hers, and she loved him, and he loved her back.
That was all that mattered.
"Oh!" she exclaimed, "I know this is odd, but I have some brownies that I made, and I made a really large batch. They're good, and that's the reason why you should take them off my hands so I don't eat them all."
He knew that he would eventually have to tell Karen about he and Pam, about everything that had happened between them. But Karen didn't even know the half of it. That didn't really matter to him right now.
"I'd be happy to take them off of your hands." he said with a smile. "Thanks." he said, smiling again. It seemed like he couldn't stop. It was hard enough for him to concentrate on driving.
"Jim, can you please watch the road!" Pam laughed. "I'd like to be delivered to my house in one, maybe two, pieces."
He pulled into a parking spot, and the ride was over. It was funny how the ride to dinner had seemed so long and labor intensive, and the ride back was breezy and swift.
She put her arm in the crook of his as they walked up to her door.
"Just wait in the living room for a sec, and I'll put the brownies in some Tupperware for you," she said as she unlocked the door.
Slipping her shoes off on her way in, she skipped off to the kitchen to ready the treats.
Slipping off his shoes, he ran up behind her and whispered, "If I bring you somewhere in two pieces...do I get to keep one." he laughed and slid his arms around her waist, kissing the nape of her neck.
He had been so nervous and worried before and now he was happier. Much happier than he had been previously.
Pam dropped the container of brownies on the counter and squealed. The feel of his lips on her neck was just too much, and she lifted her hand to caress his face.
"I guess that depends, Halpert," she said, turning around to face him, "on which part you intend to keep."
She winked exaggeratedly and slipped her arms around his neck; she had to stand a little on tip-toe. She never imagined she could be so brazen, so free.
He kissed her back and laughed at her reaction. "I like both parts. Can I have both? How about it, Beesly?" he asked mischievously.
Jim wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her higher up on his body. The brownies were forgotten and really, Jim didn't care. This was so much better.
Smiling, he kissed her neck, cheeks, forehead and then settling on her lips again.
This is what heaven is like, Pam thought as he kissed her. He held her up in their embrace, wrapping his large arms around her waist. "I think," she replied, "that can be arranged."
"I really could kiss you forever, you know," she whispered between each kiss. She pulled away and pressed her lips into his neck, peppering it with kisses.
He smiled and kissed her back.
Jim hadn't imagined he would ever be this happy with her.
"I should go..." although he didn't sound at all like he was ready to leave.
Pam squeezed him tight. "I know, I know, it is getting late," she replied. Then, she put her lips against his ear and whispered, "But, I really wish you could stay."
She let go of him reluctantly, and turned back to the brownies, closing the container tightly. "You better give me back my tupperware," she said with mock dispproval.
"Maybe." he said teasingly, playfully snatching the container from her. He kissed her cheek and backed away.
After he'd put his shoes back on, he pulled open the door and cast one last smile in her direction.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Jim called to her before hurrying out and shutting the door behind him
This was definitely not a bad day.
She laughed, and then ran to the door. Opening it, she yelled at his retreating figure.
"Don't eat brownies and drive!" she laughed. Pam waved at his car until he was out of sight.
She locked the door, then leaned her back against the frame, sliding down it until she was sitting on the floor. Shaking her head in disbelief, she mulled over the events of the night, and touched her lips with her fingertips.
She could still feel him, and she smiled.
